1. Introduction

Welcome to Detara Rugs ("Detara", "we", "our", or "us"), a brand operated by Detara Carpets Trading LLC, a company registered in the United Arab Emirates.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, products, and services, including the purchase of custom-made rugs through www.detararugs.com.

By accessing our website or placing an order, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into binding contracts to place an order with us.

3. Products and Services

Detara specializes in custom-made, handcrafted rugs, including hand-knotted rugs made from materials such as wool and silk.

Each rug is made to order based on selected design, size, material, and other specifications agreed between you and Detara.

Because our rugs are handcrafted, no two rugs are identical.

4. Orders

Orders are submitted through our website and are subject to acceptance by Detara.

After an order is placed and the required deposit is received, we may contact you to confirm specifications, measurements, design details, pricing, or shipping details before production begins.

Detara reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or cancel any order at its discretion, including in cases of pricing errors, suspected fraud, abusive conduct, or inability to fulfil the requested specifications.

5. Pricing and Currency

Unless otherwise stated, all prices are displayed in United Arab Emirates Dirham (AED).

Prices may exclude taxes or government-imposed fees unless explicitly stated otherwise.

We reserve the right to update prices at any time before order confirmation.

6. Payment Terms

Payment may be made through supported payment methods offered by Detara, including secure online card payments via Stripe and bank transfers to designated Detara bank accounts.

Orders will not be considered paid until funds have been successfully received and cleared by Detara.

For most orders:

• A 50% deposit is required to reserve your order and begin the pre-production phase, including design confirmation and specification review.
• The remaining 50% balance becomes due once production is complete and the rug is ready for shipment or delivery.

Production, including weaving and manufacturing, will not begin until:

• the required deposit has been successfully received and cleared; and
• the final design and order specifications have been explicitly approved by you.

The completed rug will not be shipped or delivered until the remaining balance has been paid in full.

Customers making payment by bank transfer are responsible for ensuring that payment references, including order or invoice numbers where provided, are accurate to avoid processing delays.

7. Customer Design Approval

After deposit payment, Detara will provide the customer with a final order specification for approval, which may include:

• design renderings or mockups
• dimensions
• colours
• materials
• other relevant specifications

The customer is responsible for carefully reviewing and approving these specifications.

Production will begin only after the customer provides explicit approval.

If the customer chooses not to proceed during the pre-production phase and production has not started, the deposit will be fully refunded.

Once approval has been given and production has started, changes to the approved design may no longer be possible or may incur additional charges and production delays.

Detara is not responsible for dissatisfaction arising from specifications that were explicitly approved by the customer.

8. Production and Delivery Timelines

Production and delivery timelines are estimates only.

Custom rugs typically require approximately 8 to 12 weeks for production, excluding shipping and delivery. Larger or more intricate rugs may take longer.

Delays may occur due to artisan production schedules, material availability, shipping disruptions, customs processing, or force majeure events.

Detara is not liable for delays outside our reasonable control.

At present, Detara accepts orders only for delivery within the United Arab Emirates.

9. Cancellation and Refunds

Orders may be cancelled before production begins for a full refund, except where cancellation is prohibited due to fraud, abuse, or other unlawful activity.

Because Detara's products are custom-made and handcrafted, cancellation and refund eligibility changes once production has started.

Once production has begun, cancellation requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Any refund after production has started may be reduced to reflect:

• materials already purchased
• artisan labour already completed
• production progress at the time of cancellation

Once a rug has been fully woven, the order is considered substantially fulfilled and cancellation will no longer be permitted, except where required by applicable law.

Completed rugs are generally non-refundable and non-returnable except in cases such as:

• incorrect delivery
• material shipping damage
• significant manufacturing defects

Claims relating to incorrect delivery, shipping damage, or manufacturing defects must be submitted within 7 days of delivery and include reasonable supporting evidence such as photographs or videos.

Approved refunds will generally be issued via the original payment method, unless otherwise determined by Detara.

10. Handmade Variation and Render Disclaimer

Handcrafted rugs naturally contain variations in dimensions, colour tones, texture, knot density, and pattern detail.

Rendered previews, mockups, and digital visualisations are provided for illustrative purposes only.

Due to the handcrafted nature of production, the final rug may differ slightly from digital previews in colour tone, texture, scale, or detail.

Such reasonable variations are inherent to handmade products and do not constitute defects.

11. Intellectual Property

All content on our website, including text, branding, images, logos, designs, and graphics, is owned by or licensed to Detara and protected by intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or exploit our content without written permission.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Detara shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of our services or products.

Our total liability for any claim relating to an order shall not exceed the amount paid by you for that order.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates.

Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the United Arab Emirates, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
